Scott Hamilton Named Chair of Baltimore City Council of MHLA
The Maryland Hotel Lodging Association (MHLA) is pleased to announce that Scott Hamilton, General Manager of the Hilton Baltimore, has been appointed Chair of the Baltimore City Council of MHLA (BCC of MHLA).
Hamilton was appointed by MHLA Board Chair Donnie Sutton following the recommendation of Baltimore City lodging members at the Council’s September 17 meeting.
Hamilton succeeds Onahlea Shimunek, who stepped down from the role following a change in her position. MHLA extends its sincere appreciation to Onahlea for her leadership and service to Baltimore’s lodging community over the past two years.
Tracey Omogbehin, General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Baltimore, will continue to serve alongside Hamilton as Vice Chair of the Baltimore City Council of MHLA.
About the Baltimore City Council of MHLA
The Baltimore City Council of MHLA serves as MHLA’s local forum for lodging members in Baltimore City, providing a structure for hotels to engage on issues and opportunities specific to the city while remaining part of MHLA’s statewide organization.
Through the Council, Baltimore City lodging members receive updates on local legislative and regulatory matters, identify issues affecting hotel operations and the visitor economy, and engage directly with City leaders and other stakeholders. The Council also helps inform and strengthen MHLA’s advocacy on behalf of Baltimore City hotels, complementing the Association’s broader advocacy at the state and local levels.
Continuing Industry Engagement in Baltimore
Hamilton’s appointment followed the Council’s September 17 Hospitality Roundtable with Baltimore Development Corporation President & CEO Otis Rolley and members of BDC’s senior leadership team. The discussion focused on BDC’s priorities and programs, opportunities to encourage hotel modernization and investment, and ways the City can better support Baltimore’s hospitality industry.
As Chair, Hamilton will help lead Council meetings, support engagement among Baltimore City lodging members, and work with MHLA to ensure that the perspectives and priorities of Baltimore’s hotel community continue to inform the Association’s work.
