Amy Rohrer, CAE
President & CEO
Amy Rohrer has led the Maryland Hotel Lodging Association (MHLA) as President & CEO since 2015, following her start with the organization in 2005. In partnership with the Board of Directors, she plays a key role in advocating for Maryland’s lodging industry and advancing policies that support its growth and success. Amy earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) in 2010, recognizing her expertise and leadership in association management. From 2008 to 2011, she served on the International Society of Hotel Associations (ISHA) Board of Directors, where she remains an active member. She also collaborates closely with the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) on industry initiatives and currently serves on the Maryland Tourism Development Board Advisory Committee.


Melissa Simpson
Vice President of Operations
Melissa Simpson joined the Maryland Hotel Lodging Association team in March of 2022. As Vice President of Operations, she manages membership development, MHLA events and communications. Melissa was with Marriott for the past 11 years, on the Brand Talent team at Marriott International HQ and at Gaylord National overseeing Internal Events & Communications. With a focus on associate culture and engagement in both roles, Melissa partnered and volunteered on several MHLA events before joining the team. Prior to joining Gaylord National, Melissa worked at Victoria Secret Stores HQ in Reynoldsburg, OH for 10 years on the Field Planning & Communication and Technical Design teams.
Gemma Moren
Executive Administrator
Gemma brings with her a wealth of experience and deep knowledge of the hotel industry, having spent over 30 years with Marriott International. Throughout her career, Gemma has been deeply committed to preserving and nurturing Marriott’s core values, playing a key role in sustaining its culture of excellence for associates worldwide.
During her tenure with Marriott, Gemma served in a variety of roles and made significant contributions, most notably through her work with the J. Willard Marriott Awards of Excellence program and Associate Appreciation Week, helping to celebrate and recognize outstanding achievements across the company. Her extensive background and dedication to hospitality excellence will be a tremendous asset to MHLA as we continue to serve and support Maryland’s lodging industry.
